Lesson 1) Chain links and how they resolve
Time for school class! ok jk f school but anyways this is a short less that should more or less teach u all u need to know about chains.
Chains are used when a card or effect is activated before another activated card or effect resolves. Each player has the opportunity to respond to each activation by activating another card or effect. Each activation is placed on the chain as a Chain Link, with the first activation being Chain Link 1. Also though it is kind of obvious, the other chain links called in chain link 2(or cl2) cl3 and so on. Then if neither player responds to the most recent link then the chain will resolve, and when chain links resolve, they resolve backwards
Now some examples~
Player ! activates Mystical Space Typhoon target a trap the opponent controls. Playing B then chains their trap(Compulsory Evacuation Device) to mst targeting some monster of zero importance for this post. Then since neither player wants to add to da chains, it ends and it resolves like so: Compulse > monster returns to hand, mst > CED is destroyed
So yeah ill just say it again
Chains resolve backwards
Same example with big words so that it looks kind of important
This is the previous example! Dis how it resolves
Compulse > mst
This how it was activated
mst > compulse
So yeah chain links something like this
Feel free to post any questions that u have(so long as they are related to this topic). And some1(possibly not me) will then answer them e.e

Re: Lesson 1) Chain links and how they resolve
For example of a chain:
Opponent plays Soul Charge
You respond with Soul Drain
Chain link 1 : Drain takes priority over Charge
Opponent responds with Seven Tools of the Bandit
Chain Link 2 : Tools over Drain over Charge
You counter with Wiretap
Chain Link 3 : Wiretap over Tools over Drain over Charge
Result: Wiretap sends Tools back into the deck, Drain takes priority again, and the opponent must discard a spell for Soul Charge to go through.
Sound about right?

Re: Lesson 1) Chain links and how they resolve
The chain sounds right but I don't think you meant Soul Drain...discarding a spell? Soul Drain doesn't allow effects to be activated in the grave/banished. Your opponent's Soul Charge will go through by just paying the life points

You're right. I'm thinking Magic/Spell Drain... have no idea how Soul Drain was in my mind.
